Shelley Aloi is a lifelong Frederick resident running for Maryland State Senate to bring accountable, independent representation back to District 3 — focused on public safety, affordability, and parents' voices in their children's education.

Shelley Aloi was raised in Frederick and built her career here, stepping up whenever the community needed a hand. With a background spanning education, research, banking, and government, she brings practical, real-world experience to a legislature that needs more common sense. Her experience includes:
- Frederick City Alderman, worked directly with residents on the everyday issues that matter most: safe streets, responsible spending, and a city government that listens.
- Vice Chair of the Washington Area Council of Governments Chesapeake Bay and Water Resources Policy Committee and member of the Frederick County Solid Waste Advisory Committee, worked with colleagues to protect the environment and bring cost-effective solutions to regional concerns.
- Banking Analyst, ensured a Big 5 Bank remained compliant with Federal government regulations, including the U.S. Treasury, Comptroller of the Currency, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac.
- Public school educator, university instructor, karate teacher, and youth director, taught and positively influenced youth and young adults to overcome challenges, develop life skills, and learn principles of success.
- Volunteer, over two decades on various boards and commissions serving the Frederick community, including nine years on the Board of Directors for Beyond Shelter (formerly Religious Coalition), serving those who were homeless and some of the most vulnerable members of the Frederick community.
- Executive Director, Marriage Resource Center of Frederick County, dedicating years to strengthening local families.
Now Shelley is running for State Senate because District 3 deserves a legislator who will put Frederick families ahead of Annapolis politics — someone whose record is consistent with her word.

Data Centers
Frederick County sits at the center of Maryland's data center boom, from the Adamstown overlay zone to campuses already under construction. Shelley will fight for real limits on energy draw, water use, noise, and pollution, while holding developers accountable to taxpayers.
Education
Parents — not Annapolis bureaucrats — should have the final say in decisions about their children's education, health, and well-being, backed by public schools with the resources to keep pace with a growing county.
Affordability & Taxes
Frederick families are being squeezed by rising costs. Shelley will fight new taxes and fees on working families and push for a state budget that lives within its means.
Public Safety
Support law enforcement and firefighters, keep repeat violent offenders off Frederick's streets, and make sure the County has the resources it needs to actually enforce the law.
Health Care
Frederick families need care that's accessible and affordable, from rural clinics to Frederick Health. Shelley will work to protect access, rein in costs, and cut the red tape that gets in the way of patients and providers.
Government Transparency
Decisions about business, spending, and growth should happen in the open, not behind closed doors in Annapolis. Shelley will push for clear public records, honest budgeting, and real accountability to Frederick voters.
One-party rule, or a check and balance.
District 3's entire Annapolis delegation — the state senator and all three delegates — currently belongs to a single party. Shelley believes Frederick is better served when its representation reflects the balance of the community itself.

Shelley's Opponent: Her Words vs. Her Votes
The current Senator said she would work to bring down costs and support individuals with disabilities,[7] yet she voted for budgets that burden Frederick families with higher taxes and fees[4] and cut funding for our most vulnerable neighbors through the Developmental Disabilities Administration.[5] She has also expressed concern about data centers, yet when the Frederick County legislative delegation considered a moratorium on new data centers in the County, our current Senator voted against it.[6]
Frederick deserves a Senator whose votes match her words — that's exactly what Shelley will deliver.
